I am a Consultant Anaesthetist at The Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital and University College Hospital, London. I qualified from UCL in 1991 and was appointed a Consultant in 1999. I attended the first DAS meeting in 1995 and have been fascinated by airway management ever since. Since then I have been the DAS newsletter editor, co-organised three DAS meetings (London 2002, Lille 2005, WAMM 2015), co-author of the DAS Extubation Guidelines (2011), DAS Intubation Guidelines (2015), review panel of NAP4 and lead author for the Head and Neck chapter. I have anaesthetised more than 5,000 patients for laryngeal and tracheal procedures, presented or published over 100 airway articles, 22 book chapters and enjoyed lecturing on airway topics in 32 countries around the world.
